Worldly Considerations: Unusual Reflections
Paintings and Prints by Martha Braun
If one has a consistent practice, a curious mind, and a conscious awareness of one’s own personal aesthetic, one can make art out of anything. The “anythings” prevalent in this work are the old and supposedly ruined, things that have inherent to them a sense of the passage of time. This element of history creates a context in which the mystical content of the imagery can resonate.
Martha Braun lives and works in Western Massachusetts. She earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree from MassArt in Boston. Her local artistic affiliations include Gallery A3, Leverett Crafts and Arts where she maintains her studio, and Zea Mays Printmaking since she is incorporating the skills of printmaking into her new work.

THE WORKROOM
The Leeway Project is an ongoing series of performances, videos and poems that delve into different stories/images of arrivals and departures. The concept of giving and taking more leeway gives focus to the project. During a week-long residency in the Workroom Theater, 33 Hawley Street July 21-27 artists in dance, theater, music and visual art will come together to work with a collection of texts written by director Wendy Woodson and experiment with different structures and possibilities for the text.
Collaborating performing artists: Grace Bertuccelli-Booth, Zach Hebert, Fynn Kugel, Rebecca Schrader.
We will have two open staged readings and improvisations and invite audience members to respond to the evolving creation of the latest rendition of the Leeway Project.
July 26 7pm, July 27 4pm. Free admission, no reservations necessary.

CONTACT QUARTERLY LIBRARY AT 33 HAWLEY
APE@Hawley is excited to announce that the dance library that was acquired and stewarded for years by our friends at Contact Quarterly is now housed at A.P.E.'s office in 33 Hawley! Since the closing of CQ's office down the road in Florence, MA, we have accepted their generous gift of hundreds of books, periodicals, and DVDs on dance practice and performance, as well as a full CQ back issue set. Once COVID restrictions allow, we will be making this reading library available to the public for using and perusing while at 33 Hawley. Also on the horizon is the use of a public computer, gifted to us by CQ, for research and browsing of CQ's back issue archive.
We can't wait to read and research together!" For more information and to access the library contact: [email protected]
