SOUNDSCORES FOR LIVING SCENERY
Soundscores for Living Scenery is a series of recorded soundworks created by artist Sara Smith for specific outdoor locations. In the most recent version, Soundscores for sites in Northampton were released from July-December 2023.
The full series is now available for self-guided tour of the Northampton-area sites. Full series on Soundcloud HERE
An accompanying zine will be available for purchase through the A.P.E. Gallery available later in 2024.
The Soundscores incorporate original music, field recordings, and other sounds, and are designed for immersive listening to support and augment listeners’ experiences of specific environments, as soundtracks and soundscores enhance the atmosphere of a film or theatrical performance. Smith, an artist rooted in choreography and performance, is interested in how embodied knowledge and memory are informed by dynamic and intentional auditory, visual, tactile, and other sensory-motor experience.
