The Northampton Community Arts Trust and members of the A.P.E. Workroom Cooperative invite you to a multi-generational, multi-arts fundraising festival to support safe moveable risers and 175 chairs for comfortable audiences
in The Workroom at 33 Hawley.
This inspiring 3800-square-foot, multi-arts space, has supported hundreds of artists and their research, inquiry, teaching, and performance this past year, reaching thousands of audience members, students, and participants. Since 2020 multi-generational movement artists have danced on the sprung floor honoring Nancy Stark Smith; NOW we are outfitting The Workroom for more comfort & inspiration.
Join us as we continue to create an inviting space for all!

CONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUE with Ellie Goudie-Averill
A dynamic movement class for intermediate-level dancers.
$15 • REGISTER AND DONATE HERE
We will come together in an investigation of presence and anatomical organization. We will breathe in and out of initial somatic floor work, warming from proximal to distal, and make use of momentum and form through crossings, scores, and sequences.
Ellie Goudie-Averill is a dance artist and educator who works with dancers of all ages on technique and performance. Since graduating with her MFA in Dance Performance from the University of Iowa, she has served as a professor at Temple University, Bucknell University, the University of Kansas, Franklin & Marshall College, Keene State College, and Connecticut College. In the past, she has danced professionally for Susan Rethorst, Lucinda Childs, Bronwen MacArthur, Group Motion, and Sara Shelton Mann. Ellie is currently working on new projects with Beau Hancock and Barbie Diewald and is a regular collaborator and dancer with Tori Lawrence + Co. in dance films and site-specific works. She often teaches ballet and contemporary at Smith and Mount Holyoke Colleges and at School for Contemporary Dance and Thought in Northampton, MA.

A screendance workshop with site-specific filmmaker Tori Lawrence

In this introductory dance film workshop, students will learn the pre-production basics of composing movement for the camera.
The workshop will consist of short exercises designed to build foundational skills in cinematography, specifically camera movement. Students will learn various tools for image design as well as deepen their understanding of dance film. Participants are welcome to bring their cameras, but there will be cameras to work with, so no need to bring anything you don't already have.

Tori Lawrence is a Western Massachusetts based choreographer and dancer who creates site-specific multimedia performances and dance films. She has been a guest professor at Bennington College, Smith College, Middlebury College, and will teach at Keene State College 2025-26. Tori received her MFA in Dance from the University of Iowa, where she was a recipient of the Iowa Arts Fellowship. Her choreographic work has recently been awarded artist residencies in Norway at LKV and USF Verftet. Other residencies and fellowships include: Yaddo, Djerassi, Playa, Brunakra, Chez Bushwick, Ucross, Charlotte Street Foundation, Dance Ireland, and Budapest's Workshop Foundation. Tori performed and collaborated with choreographer Sara Shelton Mann from 2020-22 in San Francisco and Berlin. Tori has worked as a freelance filmmaker for Movement Research, Ponderosa, Bates Dance Festival, NYU Skirball, New York Live Arts, Triskelion, Smith College, Drexel University, and many individual artists. Tori is the co-founder of Atland Residency, a new artist space in the hilltowns of Western MA: atlandresidency.org

A conversation about dancing and dance-making with teens, hosted by SCDT with dynamic artist & educator Tristan Koepke. Creating a new work with SCDT’s Hatchery Young Artist Project. Tristan is Assistant Professor of Dance at Bates College and Associate Director of the Young Dancers Intensive at the Bates Dance Festival.

Tristan Koepke (he/him) is a dancer, choreographer, and educator based in Portland, ME. His creative works, collected as Big Boy Dance, have been presented by SPACE Gallery, CANDYBOX Dance Festival, Patrick’s Cabaret, Bryant Lake Bowl, Bates College, Bates Dance Festival, The Wooden Floor, Point Dance Ensemble, The 1419 Collective, and the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. He has performed in contemporary and experimental dance works by Chris Schlichting, Vanessa Anspaugh, Luciana achugar, Cally Spooner, Doug Varone, Mathew Janczewski, Kendra Portier, Heidi Henderson, Matthew Cumble, Annie Kloppenberg, and was a member of Zenon Dance Company from 2011-2019. He holds an MFA in Dance from the University of Maryland, College Park, and is currently Assistant Professor at Bates College and Associate Director of the Young Dancers Intensive at the Bates Dance Festival.
